I also provide virtual counseling through doxy.me for those who do not live near my residential office in Akron. ALL initial appointments will be virtual. Once I complete your assessment, if you live in or near Akron and you want in-person counseling, I will provide you with the address and information related to in-person counseling at that time.

I provide individual counseling in-person for adults 18 and older at my office that is set up behind my home for those with insurance. I accept multiple insurance products including Caresource and Buckeye Medicaid, Anthem BCBS, Aetna, Medical Mutual Ohio, Cigna, ambetter, Golden Rule, and others,  When you book with me on Grow, they will ask you for your insurance info and let you know whether your insurance is accepted. I also accept self-pay $95 per session if you don't want to go through insurance and offer a sliding scale if needed. 

I am paneled with SummaCare insurance SCPremier, SC Select and Mercy Choice plans. If you have this insurance you MUST call Ken directly to schedule your appointment. This option will not show on the Grow website.

I may use a concept called MAPS,  which helps guide the counseling process from both a spiritual perspective and also guides the clinical process. This concept combines CBT, DBT skills and self regulation skills from both a neurobiological perspective and a Christian perspective when applicable. For those who do not wish to get Christian counseling, I can provide a non spiritual model though that is not my preference.

I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and specialize in helping people heal from traumatic experiences. I use a triphasic model that includes stabilization and safety, remembering and reconnection when needed. The maps process is also a major part of trauma therapy.

My preferred mode of practice is Christian Counseling to help you heal from trauma, depression and anxiety using the MAPS concept, scripture and prayer as well as clinical counseling techniques that align with Biblical values including:

Self-Regulation

Psychoeducation of PTSD

Though my preference is to do Christian counseling, I do not discriminate against anyone.

Please contact your insurance company to make sure you know what to expect with regard how your insurance bills. People using HSA accounts or other insurance with high out of pocket limits. In these cases self-pay might be slightly cheaper.
